Jeannieous HQ has been inundated with requests on how to achieve the flawless make-up look from our launch editorial shoot so we asked Jeannie’s personal glow master, Tremayne West, to take us through her application process, step by step.
“My core make-up ethos is to emphasise a client’s natural beauty, and enhance her best facial features. For Jeannie, that means always working to bring out the colour of her gorgeous green eyes and accentuate the dewy glow of her olive complexion.
EYES: After thoroughly prepping the skin, I like to complete the eyes before I work on the skin so that I can wipe any fall-out eye make-up away without wasting any other product.
- Using a spoolie (small eyebrow grooming brush), brush the brows back and forth coating each hair with a small amount of Schwarzkopf Got2b Glued Spiking Gel, then shape and let dry.
- I prime Jeannie’s eyes with a mix of Louise Eyeshadow Base and a Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer that matches her skin tone.
- The copper, bronze, and gold shades from the Morphe 35U Gilded Desert Artistry Palette look absolutely stunning on Jeannie’s eyes. I also frame them with MAC Costa Riche Kohl Liner as the warm undertone makes them pop. I apply it to the bottom waterline and a bit around the lashes, then tightline the top waterline with MAC Pro Longwear Fluidline Eye Liner and Brow Gel which I also use to create her signature cat-eye.
- Next, I use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in two shades: a lighter one to shape the brow with gentle, hair-like strokes, and a darker shade to fill in any gaps and blend it to match her natural brow.
- Lastly I apply my go-to tubing mascara, Catrice Glam Doll Easy Wash-Off Power Hold Volume Mascara, and add half a false lash to each eye.
SKIN: Too much product can look ageing under camera lights, so proceed with caution. Luckily with Jeannie I have a great canvas to work on and can easily achieve a photo-ready finish using minimal make-up.
- I use an orange Bobbi Brown Corrector under Jeannie’s eyes and a pink one on any hyperpigmentation spots. This helps me use less concealer on the face.
- MAC Pro Longwear Concealer is then applied over the corrector. I place a small amount on the back of my hand and press my brush into it to prime the brush, then I gently tap the concealer under the eyes for coverage and let it dry.
- Next, I use a flat brush to lightly tap a small amount of NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation into her skin and blend it out with a damp beauty blender.
- Using a small angled brush, I apply Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream where the sun would hit: on the temples, cheekbones, and a bit on the bridge of the nose, blending it into the foundation.
- A light, fluffy brush is ideal to apply a MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Cheeky Bronze over the cream bronzer, blending it into the skin for an iridescent, dreamy look.
- The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder is a holy grail product for mattifying or blurring. I tap a powder puff into it, then smooth it on the back of my hand before gently applying under the eyes and T-zone.
CHEEKS & LIPS: Last but not least, I get Jeannie’s camera ready with blusher and a sophisticated nude lip that works well with every outfit.
- Using a small brush, I apply blush. My favourite on Jeannie is NARS The Multiple Cream Stick in G-Spot (available at the new NARS standalone store at the V&A Waterfront) from the middle of her cheek up to her cheekbone. This creates a lifted look.
- I use MAC Lip Pencil in Spice to fill in the entire lip, then apply a lighter nude lipstick to the centre, blending it out to create the perfect pout.
- Finally, I set Jeannie’s makeup with Kryolan Fixing Spray so it stays put.
