Hooked On Youth

Why Jeannie didn't mind when a little salmon sperm swam into her skincare routine.

Look, I never thought I’d one day be writing a love letter to salmon sperm but here we are. Because when it comes to staying as naturally fresh-faced as I can, I’ll try anything once… And if the Koreans swear by it, I’ll probably try it twice. Enter polynucleotide therapy, the latest anti-aging miracle I had done with Dr. Zak Schabort, and let me tell you, I am officially obsessed.

Me & Dr. Zak, after putting numbing cream on my face!

Me, immediately after having the treatment done.

What in the Fishy Science?!

Polynucleotides are the secret agents of skin rejuvenation. These clever little nucleic acids dive deep into your skin, triggering cell regeneration, boosting collagen, and hydrating like your face just gulped down a liter of spring water. Think of them as microscopic life coaches, encouraging your skin to heal, glow, and snap back to youthful bounciness.

“While Botox is a popular and effective choice for treating wrinkles by temporarily paralysing those muscles, it only alleviates symptoms rather than promoting overall skin health,” Dr. Zak says, explaining that in comparison polynucleotides and exosomes are bio-stimulating and work at the cellular level to rejuvenate and repair skin, fostering long-term vitality and glow.

And here’s where it gets wild – this new innovation is derived from salmon sperm. That’s right. Somewhere in a high-tech lab, scientists looked at fish DNA and thought, You know what? This would look amazing on Jeannie’s face. They weren’t wrong.

Why You Need to Get Over the Fishy Factor

I get it. The idea of injecting marine reproductive material into your face might raise an eyebrow (or a whole school of them) but hear me out: it works. The science behind it is solid – salmon DNA is incredibly similar to human DNA, making it a powerful, bio-compatible ingredient that encourages cell repair and deep hydration. Plus, it’s packed with niacinamide (aka the ultimate glow-giver) and peptides that act like tiny bouncers, kicking aging right out of the club.

The Treatment: A Few Pricks for a Lot of Perks

Dr. Zak, who has the steady hands of a sculptor and the wisdom of a skincare oracle, injected this youth elixir all over my face. Did it sting? Well, a little. I got numbing cream applied, but then again, I need numbing cream for regular old Dermapen so I think it’s just me. I do know women who are tough enough to go without.

The best part is, I was expecting my face to swell up afterwards and to need some down time at home, but honestly, I only experienced a little bit of redness – nothing makeup couldn’t cover up.

Was it worth it? Absolutely. After the treatment, my skin felt instantly plumper and smoother, and a week later, the glow just keeps getting better – like my skin is binge-drinking from the fountain of youth. I’m officially obsessed and can’t wait for my second of three treatments, which is next week.

The Verdict? I’m Hooked.

If you’re looking for a natural treatment that hydrates, firms, and literally rewinds time on your face, polynucleotides are it. And yes, it’s derived from fish DNA, but when it comes to skincare, weird usually works. Some people use snail slime while others rub bird poop onto their faces but I think I’ll stick with good old salmon sperm!
